Teeth Click Brick

Something sour in the walls or floorboards

Outside, light-birds dance on pickup metal

Inside, socks slide from bedroom to kitchen

going backwards from alarm clock scream

She, a thin rail in tuberose white bodysuit

eating chocolate toast off Christmas plate

Backdoor, to newspaper roll, slowly strolling

Light-birds distant reflection, near perfection

Something’s dead in double carport rafters

Repeat, toe’s beat, tripping toppled tuberose

teeth clicking the brickwork-lined raised beds

Falling into fresh floral smells and musty dirt

bodysuit laughing clatter, Xmas plate splatter

Toast crumbs fall over lithe, trillium-like skin
